About
Venesa Sulimani is a Community Advocate at Albanian Community Mental Health (ACMH), collaborating with the team on podcast episodes and workshops and bringing the perspective of lived experience to the organization's work.
Venesa carries lived experience of the trauma of the war in Kosovo, and she has chosen to speak about it publicly. The daughter of a survivor of wartime violence, she advocates to break the silence surrounding the children of survivors and for recognition of how trauma moves through generations.
Her advocacy has reached international platforms: she opened the International Forum on Women, Peace and Security and has taken part in United Nations meetings in New York on the negotiation of a global treaty on the prevention and punishment of crimes against humanity.
Through her advocacy, Venesa works to end stigma, encourage open conversation about mental health, and remind others who carry similar experiences that they are not alone.
